Some people mistakenly believe that bleeding gums, but that isn’t necessarily true. If you haven’t flossed in a while and experience a little bleeding when you start up again, that’s ok. There comes a point, however, when bleeding gums can be a sign of a serious oral issue – namely, gum disease.

There are two stages of gum disease. The first stage is called as gingivitis, which includes red and irritated gums. The second stage is called periodontitis. Gingivitis is reversible, but periodontitis isn’t. If your gums are regularly irritated, red and swollen, we recommend booking an appointment with our team as soon as possible so we can help you treat it.

Gum disease is usually caused by lackluster oral hygiene. Cleaning your teeth thoroughly may actually be enough to help you reverse it. If your gum disease is more severe, however, our team may be able to reverse it with a more thorough cleaning.
